About the Coffee

Coffee remains the second most traded commodity on earth; energy and oil being the first.

Grapes, corn, squash, tomato and citrus along with other respectable produce types can be grown in most locations depending on time of year, be it California or Iowa.

Coffee, for our country, can only be grown and sustained in Hawaii.

Hawaiian coffee has long been regarded as one of the two great coffees of the world.

Virtually by far and away all other major coffee growing regions have ongoing serious difficulties with the various diseases known to the industry (and those resulting from pesticide treatments).

Click to View Larger ImageExample: To be specific and to name the two most prevalent diseases commonly found elsewhere and throughout all other coffee growing regions:

  • Coffee “leaf” rust (Hemilea Vastatrix)
  • Coffee “berry” disease (Collatotrichum Coffecium)

Neither of these “diseases” are found in this country’s Hawaiian coffee.

Our water is 100% rainwater catchments. We have no heavy industry with its accompanying water and air pollution.

Like clockwork, Mauka (up-mountain) and Makai (below-seaward) winds blow across the islands twice daily, cleansing and refreshing the land.

Hawaii’s quarantine laws, coupled with its unique location have prevented the introduction of diseases commonly found elsewhere, as well as the accompanying pests.

Finally, Hawaii State regulations require a permit to import “those other green beans” for roasting and afterward all coffee bags and/or containers must be destroyed by law.
